Saturdays....

Today was a beautiful day of fall.... one of the last few where it was cool in the morning and warm in the day... although I wait for the day when we can head south and the days won't be quite so cool in the evenings, I must admit I will miss the colors of fall, but..... with good location - we can still ride a bit north to see the colors of fall and have warm days and nights!! We headed today for the Renaissance Festival in Harveyburg. We were aware of the great Sauerkraut Festival going on in Waynesville, but did not expect that it was such a big deal! We sat in traffic for almost an hour just to get through this little town of antiques. Guess the southern Ohioans take their kraut seriously! We finally made it to the medieval era and enjoyed one of the fall favorites for us - smoked turkey legs! Probably not the healthiest thing for our age, considering all the salt - but once a year is worth the wait and arteries! I bet you thought I would say something like - apple cider or pumpkin something or other - no...fall for us is turkey legs!! We spent the day watching people dressed oddly - a man balance on a high wire, and men jump in mud while telling off color jokes....the Renaissance Festival 2008. We headed back north and rode some hilly and beautiful country roads. It was a wonderful way to end the season of riding - or at least long days. Hopefully the warm days will continue for another couple of weeks before the snow flies and the scooter must be garaged until spring - or at least for this fair weather rider!

I am sitting here in the rich environment of germs, geeks, blah walls, and glossy floors. Yes I am at work. It is 3:43am and my patients are breathing, have a blood pressure, and are enjoying the calmness of the night. It is both a rare occasion, and one that I savor since we are in the midst of a full moon. Not that things can't change both quickly and escalate without a moments notice. I am on the one-half of a very long shift. I will not be seeing my bed until 12pm today as I have to dress up in a moon suit and make believe I am a hazmat queen at 8am - and since I live an hour from work - I will not have the opportunity to go home in between my shift and the class. So...for the moment - I am enjoying listening to 80's music and attempting to start my first blog! I have enjoyed reading my son's, and my niece's.... maybe - just maybe I can get Ed to start his own page - we know what yarns he can tell!
